Congressman Garamendi's Statement Following His Victory in the Nov. 8th Election

Davis, CA - Congressman Garamendi delivered the following statement after his victory in the November 8th election:

"I am deeply grateful and humbled by my re-election to Congress. The 60% - 40% margin of victory reflects the commitment that our team made to represent the diverse communities in the beautiful, vibrant, and always hopeful 3rd Congressional district. I am anxious to return to Washington next week, roll up my sleeves, and get back to work. On Monday, I'll introduce my new bill 'American Food for American Schools.' We will continue my 'Make it in America' agenda. We must create those jobs that middle Americans need and want by rebuilding our infrastructure and manufacturing sector.

I will continue my efforts to stop the twin tunnels, build Sites Reservoir, and develop a water system that allows California to grow and prosper.

Representing two of America's vital Air Force Bases creates a special obligation to ensure that our national defense is both strong and smart. We must never let our veterans down, especially the National Guard members who face an unfair "claw back" of their benefits. They served and we must meet our obligations to them.

The $4 billion agricultural sector in this district will continue to thrive. I will work to ensure that our national policies promote the production of safe, affordable food for our students, all our people, and those around the world.

Our communities are fortunate to have the extraordinary advantage of the University of California Davis. I will continue to support the education and research at this world class university.

The national election has exposed in stark terms the reality of a deeply divided nation. This is not new to America. Our history is filled with periods of conflict, and always American moves on toward a 'More Perfect Union'. As Lincoln said 'bind up the Nation's wounds'. We must do this."
