WALNUT CREEK – Lieutenant Governor John Garamendi, the only candidate for Congress who has ever represented the people of the 10th Congressional District, today is proud to announce that he has received the endorsement of the Vacaville Reporter. Garamendi has also been endorsed by the San Francisco Chronicle and San Francisco Bay Guardian in the general election.
“It is in the best interest of the state of California to send John Garamendi to Congress, and happily, it is also in the best interest of voters in the 10th Congressional District that he is seeking to represent,” the editorial board explained in their endorsement. “As a former state legislator who attained the rank of state Senate majority leader, Mr. Garamendi should have little trouble navigating the halls of Congress, especially since he spent the mid-1990s in Washington, D.C., as deputy secretary of the Department of Interior. Mr. Garamendi's experience as California's insurance commissioner will be useful in Congress as it wrestles with health-care reform. Mr. Garamendi will add a pro-consumer voice to an arena that too often listens mostly to insurance companies.”
The Reporter went on to say, “As California's lieutenant governor, Mr. Garamendi sits on a number of statewide boards which have given him familiarity with a broad range of issues, including jobs, the economy and higher education. He understands how the federal government can assist California, statewide and locally.”
“John Garamendi is a proven quantity as a legislator and leader. On Election Day, voters in California's 10th Congressional District should send him to Congress” the Reporter concluded.
A special general election will be held on November 3rd. For more information, please visit http://www.garamendi.org.
