WALNUT CREEK – The Garamendi for Congress campaign began airing its first television ad of the special general election. The ad, titled “Leader,” highlights Lieutenant Governor John Garamendi's long record of public service as a state legislator, President Clinton's Deputy Secretary of the Interior, California's Insurance Commissioner, and Lieutenant Governor. John Garamendi is the only candidate for Congress who has ever represented the people of the 10th Congressional District.

Lieutenant Governor John Garamendi has received the support of President Barack Obama, President Bill Clinton, and Vice President Al Gore.
Citing his long record of experience, the region’s newspapers have also endorsed Garamendi for Congress, including the San Francisco Chronicle, San Francisco Bay Guardian, Vacaville Reporter, and Bay Area Reporter. In the primary election, Garamendi was endorsed by the Contra Costa Times, Tri-Valley Herald, Oakland Tribune, and Livermore Independent.
Garamendi has also been endorsed by the California Teachers Association, California Federation of Teachers, California Nurses Association, and California Professional Firefighters. All former Democratic candidates in the 10th Congressional District – including State Senator Mark DeSaulnier, Assemblymember Joan Buchanan, and platoon leader Anthony Woods – have endorsed John Garamendi for Congress.
