WALNUT CREEK – John Garamendi, California’s current Lieutenant Governor and first elected State Insurance Commissioner, is proud to announce today that he has received the endorsement of the Alameda County Central Labor Council.
“I am proud to have the endorsement of the Alameda County Central Labor Council in our race for the 10th congressional district,” said Garamendi, chair of the California Commission for Economic Development. “Universal health care, quality sustainable jobs, educational opportunities for all, and safe working conditions have always been at the forefront of my career in public service. I’ve spent more than three decades fighting for working and middle class families.”
Last week, Garamendi received the endorsement of the 700,000-member SEIU State Council, the largest labor union in California. He has also received endorsements from President Bill Clinton, Vice President Al Gore, General Wesley Clark, the California Nurses Association, California Federation of Teachers, California School Employees Association, Communication Workers of America, United Food and Commercial Workers, California Federation of Teachers, International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, Bay Area Union Labor Party, AFSCME Local 3299, Laborers Local 185, 304, and 324, Teamsters Local 150 and 350, and International Union of Operating Engineers Local 3 and 12.
A primary for the 10th congressional district will be held September 1st.
